Speaker of Chamber of Deputies today said in a consultative meeting that held MPs in examination of the EU Parliament resolution, that parliamentary delegation had a hidden agenda when visiting Rwanda.
Donatille Mukabalisa the hidden agenda was demonstrated through the EU Parliament resolutions No 2016/2910(RSP) whose content is not relative to the purpose of the delegation’s visit.
The Consultative meeting decided to urge the European Parliament to withdraw the resolution because it is a misrepresentation of facts.
MPs concluded a resolution that will be submitted to the EU Council, the EU Commission, the UN Security Council, the UN Secretary-General, the institutions of the African Union, the East African Community, the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly, the Parliaments of EU Member States.
The MPs in the resolution said that they are informing the above mentioned parties that the EU resolution was unfounded, had contradictory facts and was simply based on political reasons.
MPs said such resolutions on Rwanda be based on the national historical, political and cultural context.
President of Senate, Right Honorable Bernard Makuza noted to MPs that Rwanda is a sovereign country whose populations know their own problems faced in past years in the face of the international community and themselves should be concerned by a better future.
