Jeannette Kagame calls for girl child supporting

Rwanda’s First lady says that supporting the girl child is very important now because it renders hope that societies have families appropriate for the girls.

Jeannatte Kagame noted that such care is good for a harmonious family which is a fundamental factor of development in Rwanda.

The first lady is expecting to launch the national wide Family Campaign on November 25 that will sensitize Rwandans about the importance of developing such admirable family conditions which also commence with other developmental work like girl child education, family planning all under the Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion.

“The only sustainable solution which gives us hope is an appropriate family for a girl child to thrive,” she said at annual International Rural Women’s Day and International Day of the Girl Child that is normally celebrated on October 15, the ceremony in Rwanda took place at Cyahinda sector, Nyaruguru district in the Southern Province.

This year’s celebrations were organized in partnership with Plan International, a non-governmental organization, whose Country Director Marie Gladys Geurrier Archange was also witnessing the exposition stands showcasing Girl Child activities that include the ‘Because I am a Girl and the Takeover Initiatives.’

Up to 14 groups of parents’ evening members from all the sectors in that district were granted Rwf 4200000 as support which is expected to make families appropriate for the girls and other relative work.

Celebrations of the Girl Child Day had been also held in Gatsibo district on October 11 before they would be celebrated again in Nyaruguru, the Southern Province.
